I know why she wants to meet me here; she’s breaking up with me. I can tell. It’s been coming. It’s been weeks since she last seemed excited to see me. I think she’s seeing other people. I can’t prove it, but there’s a lot of little things that, when you add them together, make me think she’s dating other guys. Like a couple of nights ago, when I found the box of leather underwear, zipper masks, and whips and chains in our closet. Sure, I believed her at first when she told me that she was holding them for her grandmother, but then I remembered: Her grandmother’s Amish-she doesn’t believe in zippers.

But that’s not all. There’s also the strange phone calls. I mean, I can understand one or two guys mistakenly calling our phone line looking for someone named "Sexy Caressa." But thirty or forty a day? And you would think she’d simply tell them they have the wrong number and get off the phone instead of rolling her eyes at me and saying stuff like, "I’ll take this in the other room," or, "move, please, you’re blocking the credit card machine."

I mean, maybe I’m just being paranoid, but my gut tells me she’s just not as into me as she used to be.
And so, here I am, sitting with my cup of overpriced coffee, looking out the window and waiting for her to arrive and drop the bomb.

Why can’t I be like this paper coffee cup? I mean, this paper cup and plastic lid don’t mind being discarded. Sure, they savor the time that you hold them, caress them, use them to indulge your fleshly desires. They don’t get so hung up on the reality that, when you’re finished with them, they’ll be cast aside... thrown away into the trash heap. They know that, if they’re lucky, they’ll be recycled; remade into another paper cup or lid that will again be loved-if only for a few sips.

It’s a harsh cycle. An uncertain existence. But paper cups don’t care. Plastic lids don’t moan and cry over the lost relationship. They just keep on being paper cups and lids. So why can’t I be like that. Why can’t I be okay with the fact that I’m the mocha latté of the day, but tomorrow she’ll want a caramel macchiato with whip cream and a shot of espresso. Oh, if only my heart were made by Dixie instead of God.

The manufacturing of paper cups started during early 1900s, mainly with the intent of preventing diseases. Since such cups are not meant for reuse, the consumption of drinks from these cups puts off the transfer of germs, thus promoting good health. Apart from being hygienic, paper cups offer the convenience of use and make life easier. Specialists estimate the worldwide consumption of paper cups to 220 billion per annum.

The manufacturing process of paper cups

Printing

Large rolls of paper are procured by the manufacturing unit. One side of the paper is coated with an especially formulated plastic to make the interior of the cup. Next, the roll is fed to a machine for printing designs on the other side. Once the printing is done, another machine is employed to separately cut the paper containing the design into small sheets, which are called flats. One flat goes to make one cup. The size of the final cup is decided by the size of its flat.

Forming

The stacks of flats are passed through a big machine, which rolls them to a cylindrical shape while simultaneously sealing them by applying heat on the wax already applied on the interior of the paper forming the cup. The paper that is simultaneously fed from the far end of this very machine is made into circles, which go to make the base of the paper cups. The spare strip of paper, after the base of the cups has been obtained, is thrown out and recycled. Finally, the cylinders and bases, which go to make the complete cups, are sealed together through a heat process.

Rim formation and packaging

A chute is employed for transferring the cups to a different machine, which forms the rim of the cup by rolling paper on its top. The cups are then sent for packaging, where they are dropped into the correct sized tubes and stacks get made. After the required number of cups gets collected in one stack, it is passed through one more machine, which wraps a plastic sheet around it and finally seals the sheet. This is the package ready for shipment. The complete process from making to packaging of cups takes nearly one minute.

Your small business needs an appealing and professional website but that is just the beginning. If no one visits your website and--more importantly--if it does not bring in new customers and allows you to sell more to your current customers, then your site is not effective. What do you need to improve your onlin marketing efforts?

The first step is to decide on a primary goal for your website. Is it to directly sell products or services through e-commerce? Or is the goal to capture leads so you can follow-up and make the sale by email and phone?

For e-commerce you need a website design with a shopping cart system, that encourages people to purchase products using the shopping cart. Both the design and written content should maintain this focus.

If your goal is to capture leads, the key is to have the content that provides initial information about your products and services that interests prospective customers. It should be easy for the prospective customer to fill out a contact form and hit the submit button or call your 800-number. The form should be submitted to a contact management system such as Salesforce or SugarCRM.

Getting it Done

Your business needs a professional website, which can cost between $2,000 - $15,000 to design. This is not only more than most small businesses want to spend but also unnecessary to succeed on the Web.

For small business there is usually little need for an elaborate, expensive website. You can get an appealing and professional website design for as little as $250.

The key to a professional website design is to work with a good designer who takes the time to listen to you and translate your vision into an effective website. Your designer must be as skilled in listening as in design.

Once the site is completed there must be an easy way for you - or someone on your behalf--to maintain the website. The designer should provide you with an easy-to-use content management system (CMS), enabling you to edit your website without having to contact your designer. This saves you money.

Once you have a professional website you have the foundation for marketing online. You can build on that foundation and use the Internet as an effective marketing tool.

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing can be divided into two main categories: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC).

Please do a Google search right now for something pretty popular (e.g., coffee). The results on the left side of the browser window that reach down to the bottom of the page are the organic search results. The top results are generally the more popular sites. The highest ranking sites are those sites that have the most links from other websites (especially other high ranking sites). In a sense, other people have voted for the high ranking sites by linking to them. Often, the high ranking sites are the most popular but there is also a lot of gaming of the system. You cannot, however, pay Google to increase your site’s ranking.

On the right side of your search results and, sometimes, up at the top of the page are the "Sponsored Links." These links are paid advertising through a system called Google Adwords. Look for the "Sponsored Links" heading and compare how these links look with the non-sponsored organic links.

Search Engine Optimization

To increase your search rankings in Google (and other search engines), you can do a number of things. We will focus on Google because of its dominant position as a search engine.

The truth is that it is a crowded field out there for most keywords. Your best bet is to find some niche keywords and work on those. It would be very difficult to achieve a high ranking for the keyword "coffee" but if you have a more specific niche you have a better chance of succeeding.

For example - and this is just an example for illustration, not necessarily a good keyword combination - "Guatemalan shade grown coffee" would be an easier space in which to compete. You would have a chance of rising to the compostable garbage bags top or at least getting on the first page of results.

The primary way to increase your ranking is to have other high ranking sites establish links to your site and have those links associated with specific keywords - such as "Guatemalan shade grown coffee" as in our example. What follows is a few ideas on how to do that in an ethically and effective way. Don’t be tempted by gimmicks because Google and other search engines are becoming more savvy, and can penalize sites that try to game the system too much.

Once you decide on the keywords, submit your site to as many directories and other clearinghouse type sites in your industry as you can. That should probably be your first step in SEO.

Submit your site to general directories that are organized by topic. Some sites charge money for fast consideration of your submission, and are probably worth it. For example, Yahoo Directory charges $300/year for expedited consideration of your submission. For other highly prized directories - such as the Open Directory Project--you just have to submit your site and hope it will be considered reasonably soon.

Next, talk to your vendors and people in related industries and see about arranging for link exchanges or perhaps even success stories that include a link. They link to you and, in exchange, you link to them.

Then start writing articles. The key to articles is to write about something you know and that has information that is genuinely interesting to your audience. Publish your article in publications that are related to your industry. If your article is published in web publications, you will not only get direct sales leads from your article but your article will also help your search engine position.

For example, our fictional coffee vendor could write an article on exactly why shade grown coffee is superior to non-shade grown coffee. Or, better yet, why "Guatemalan Shade Grown Coffee" is truly the best. The article would have to include facts to support this claim and not just fluff. Maybe the next article could be on how to make the perfect cup of coffee. I would be first in line to read that one.

The key thing to remember is that SEO is a long process. You rarely get instant results. It can take 8-12 months to see any significant progress. You have to keep at it.

Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising

There are a number of PPC providers but we will focus on Google Adwords as they are currently the dominant PPC system.

First, you decide on the goal (called a conversion) of your Adwords campaign. Is it a direct sign-up? Is it capturing sales leads?

A conversion when the goal is achieved and Google Adwords keeps a running tally of your conversions and the cost per conversion. You can see the cost of obtaining a lead or the cost of getting a customer. You can determine if Adwords is working for you, and whether you should make adjustments or discontinue it completely. Generally, it takes a bit of experimentation to get it right but it can be a steady source of business for you. It is worth some effort as once it is set up well it runs and can bring in a steady stream of business.

You set a daily budget (say $35) and a maximum bid on specific keywords (say $2.75). You only pay when someone clicks on your ad click. So if you are bidding $2.75 you might only pay an average of say $2.60 per click. It depends on the keywords and how much you want to bid. Spend some time choosing good keywords. Google Adwords has tools to help you choose the most powerful keywords. You will also need to embed some special code in your website to enable Google to track conversions.

Google Adwords really works. Try it and see if it will work for you. It does not require a big investment to get started. In fact, some web hosting and design companies offer a coupon so you can get started with Adwords for free. Google Adwords is easier to use than you might think.

Permission-Based E-mail Marketing

Spammers have given Email marketing a bad name in much the same way that unethical salespeople have given sales a bad name. This is unfortunate as a knowledgeable salesperson can be an essential part of making good buying decisions. The same is true of good email marketing.

With permission-based email marketing--as opposed to spam--the receiver of the email has expressed interest. Think of spam as the wily salesman in the polyester suit--and think of permission-based email as the knowledgeable salesperson we respect.

For example, I am on an email list at a bookstore that I frequent. I look forward to the e-newsletters as they often have interesting content and good discounts. I enjoy receiving this e-newsletter and the bookstore gets more business from me as a result. I rarely go anywhere else to buy books. They have retained me as a customer and I buy more often at least in part because of their e-newsletter.

Email marketing can help you increase customer retention and help you earn more revenue from each customer by cross-selling and up-selling to your current customer base. It can also help you expand your client base.

Email marketing is becoming crucial to online marketing and - when done ethically and well - can be extremely effective. Sign up for a free trial with an email marketing service and see if it works for you. If not, try another service. Find a service that meets your needs.

You can grow your own email newsletter list with a sign up form on your website, and by asking for opt-in in your sign-up and lead capture forms.

What to look for in an Email Marketing Provider

At a minimum an email marketing service should make it easy for you to create eye-catching emails, manage multiple email lists, and place newsletter sign-up forms on your website. There should be powerful list management, robust reporting, and reliability. Your provider must also have excellent customer service.

Your email marketing service should include an easy way to track the results of your email campaigns. Who opened your email, how many times, and when? Did they click on the link you provided? Did they purchase anything or submit a lead? The service should enable you to track message reads in real time, and read detailed reports online or export them to a spreadsheet.

In addition, your email marketing service should give you the ability to manage multiple lists and divide lists into multiple segments.

Conclusion

Obtaining a website and marketing your products or services online does not have to be expensive. An economical way to accomplish these goals is to hire a company to design your website and provide you with bundled web hosting and permission-based email marketing services. It would be an added bonus if they can get you started using Google Adwords with a free coupon.

Most everyone that I have talked to that does not like coffee said that it is the bitter taste they don’t like. Fresh coffee is never bitter. In fact, fresh coffee is smooth and tasty even undoctored. So what is giving coffee such a bad rap? After some research it a cured to me that the problem is lack of freshness, and coffee that was brewed hours ago. Stale coffee itself is horrible to drink. Stale coffee can leave a bad taste in your mouth, but if you buy coffee that is guaranteed fresh when you brew it then it will taste smooth and refreshing. How does coffee get to the point of being stale? In many cases it is due to poor packaging, but in most cases it is due to over stocking.

Poor packaging is when the product is not properly sealed from the manufacture, or the seal is broken along the way. Most containers are plastic these days, but many still use the steel cans. The difference is the cost plastic is much cheaper to produce. Plastic is not as durable and sometimes is easily damaged. If the seal is broken then the coffee is exposed to the air, which dries out the coffee. This is the main reason coffee gets to the point of being stale. Another problem is over stocking.

When a store over stocks there products the product sits longer on the shelf or in the back and over time the freshness fades away. Many distributors of coffee buy by volume to get the coffee at a cheaper price. The problem is they can sit on that coffee for month, or even years until it is sold. How long can coffee remain fresh in a vacuum-sealed container? It can vary, but the average length is about 6 months. Do you see the problem now? I have worked for a grocery store before and I have seen products stay on the shelves for months. If you were to brew a cup of coffee from beans roasted a year ago then that cup of coffee will be horrible. What about coffee that was brewed 4 hours ago?

In many cases the coffee appears thicker because the water is vaporized over time. The coffee can have a burnt taste that is also bitter. If it is not fresh don’t drink it. My wife hates coffee because of her first bad experience, and after I roasted her a fresh batch she admitted that it was really good and not bitter. How Wall Paper Coffee Cup fresh is your coffee?

It’s just about that time of the year again! Each year, around this time, people start to get into the festive spirit and decide to celebrate with a party of some sort. I host a party for my friends and family every year, and each year I learn something new. In my experience, there are a few things you can do to make the party enjoyable for everyone?yourself included.

Plan your party well in advance. The holidays are a busy time for everyone, so give your guest as much advance notice as possible. Your best bet is to send out the invitations in late November, so your guests can have the time to plan ahead. Organization is the key to a successful party.

It is important to have some idea how many people will be attending your party. You could include a stamped envelop with the invite, so your guests can RSVP. If you are unable to confirm the number of attendees, save yourself some trouble and plan to have a few more people than you invited. By approaching the party this way, you will be sure to have enough food and drink for everyone.

When considering your menu, try to keep things as simple as possible. This does not mean you have to compromise the quality of your food. Experience has taught me that homemade desserts are always a big hit. Consider serving an array of tarts and pastries, along with tea and coffee. As for the other food, try to serve finger foods such as sandwiches or wraps. You can purchase a platter of these at a very reasonable price, and save yourself a lot of time. I also like to have to an assortment of appetizers such as breaded shrimp and spring rolls.

Regarding beverages, you should consider having a selection of things to choose from. Be compostable trash bag sure to stock up on Egg Nog! You should have a reasonably well stocked bar that includes red and white wine, rum, whiskey, vodka, and beer. We love Irish Cream with our coffee! Keep in mind that not everyone likes to imbibe, so be sure to have an assortment of soda and juice on hand. Tea and coffee are absolute necessities.

Another thing you could do to make the party more exciting, is to base it around a theme of some sort. You can tailor your food and drink to the theme, as well. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone showed up dressed in costume? We had a party a few years ago, and it was in the theme of a Victorian Christmas. It was so much fun seeing everyone together and enjoying the holidays dressed in wonderful evening gowns and tuxedos! So good luck, and have a wonderful holiday!

A common question we frequently get asked which cups we would recommend to our customers; this is a tricky question as it depends on the heat of drink you intend to use. We stock a wide range of items from single-wall plain paper cups, to our latest triple wall ’Ultimate’ hot cups. The primary difference is the insulating properties of the specific cup type.

Our Plain White or Mocha Single wall hot cups are perfect for warm drinks; however piping hot coffee would perhaps be rather uncomfortable to hold without the use of a cup sleeve (available separately). Due to their single-wall construction there is no additional layer to insulate the heat of the beverage.

Double wall and hot ripple cups are specifically designed to withstand much high tempuratures, the dual layers work in a similar way to a thermos flask; trapping air and isolating the customer’s hand from hot drinks. In addition to this, the extra cup strength is ideally suited to ’coffee on the go’.

With different high street coffee chains and drinks providers favouring different disposable cup materials, it is interesting to find out which is the most effective insulator. Perhaps the most appropriate way to discuss the insulating properties of a paper cup is to compare it with another frequently used takeaway cups, such as the common expanded polystyrene type. This can be done by carrying out a simple test to show whether the polystyrene or paper version kept the liquid it contained hotter for the greatest length of time.

Paper cups vs Polystyrene cups
The heat retention test involves putting 200 ml of very hot water into a polystyrene cup and the same amount into a paper hot drink cup to find out which is the better insulator. For a wider comparison, you could also introduce a plastic cup into the equation to reveal how its insulation properties measure up. We all know each of these hot cups will provide a specific level of insulation, but this test will help show which is the best way to keep liquids warm.

How to Test the temperature
You can use a thermometer to test the temperature of the liquid. Taking a temperature reading every minute for at least ten minutes, then again around 20 minutes and 30 minutes, will help to show whether the paper cup is indeed the best insulator. You can record these readings as a graph if you wish to make the results clearer.

Heat retention
In an extremely similar test, cup and food container specialist Contexpan discovered that the liquid in both cups dropped in temperature very fast during the first five minutes, from around 100 degrees centigrade to around 90 degrees. However, at this point, the liquid in the polystyrene cup cooled at a slightly slower rate than the paper version, remaining at around 80 degrees after 25 minutes compared with the liquid in the paper cup, which had dropped to around 70 degrees.

The results
The findings suggest that the polystyrene cup is the better insulator, with the paper cup in second place. A third cup, a plastic cup, was used in the Contexpan test and this presenting inferior insulation properties, with the water temperature falling to below 70 degrees centigrade after 25 minutes. However, some catering supplies companies are now using double-layered disposable paper cups with an air pocket in between to trap the heat and provide an extra layer of insulation. Further tests would need to be carried out to discover whether this gives the paper cups the edge over polystyrene ones.

From the findings above, we would most likely expect the greatly increased insulation of ripple/weave paper cups to put them in first place with this sort of experiment. The ripples act like a thermos flask, greatly increasing the heat retention of the cups. Further tests are required to conslusively prove this statement however.

Biodegradable Paper Cups
Of late there has been a lot of emphasis on the use of Biodegradable hot drink paper cups. This has become a issue as traditional PE coated hot drink cups use non-renewable materials for their inner lining. Obviously this lining is required to make the cups watertight, so the only way to make paper coffee cups more eco-friendly is to replace the PE lining with an eco-friendly alternative.

The new range of Biodegradable Paper Cups use a PLA (Polylatic acid) lining instead of the traditional PE (Polyethylene) coating. Previously PLA has been mainly used on Plastic Glasses designed for cold drinks. This is because PLA would begin to dissolve if it touched a hot drink. The latest varieties are temperature treated to make it suitable for use with piping hot drinks; this advance has made the coating appropriate for use with paper coffee cups.

PLA vs PE coated cups
There is lots of erroneous information on the Internet regarding the environmental benefits of using PLA coating, primarily regarding the disposal of cups at landfill sites. Contrary to popular belief neither the PLA or PE coated paper coffee cups rot at landfill sites. These sites are specifically designed to prevent material ’rotting’ as such, as this process released potentially dangerous methane gasses.

A main benefit of PLA coated paper cups is that the coating is made from a renewable resource, this accounts for roughly 5% of the material used for an average single-wall paper cup.

In order to legitimately state the environmental advantages of using disposable paper cups it should also be noted that they need to be recycled using appropriate facilities. This is true of both PE and PLA paper cups. Nether type of paper cup should be disposed of in normal ’paper waste’ collections, potentialls this could completely contaminate the entire recycling batch! Currently, the best way of recycling coated cups of this nature in the UK is through the save-a-cup scheme. Specific collections are organised for paper cups, ensuring that they make their way to a suitable processing plant.

Event supplies stock a huge range of quality catering disposable items used throughout professional catering businesses, whether you are organising a large event or small party, event supplies service, prices and product range ensure your catering disposable needs are exceeded.

Freedom of Religion is something that we hold dear to our hearts as Americans. It is freedom from persecution and one of the reasons the Mayflower set sail to the New World. Freedom of Religion cannot be complete without freedom to worship no religion, to reject all other religions from one’s belief system or to claim no higher power than self. The Atheists in America appear to simply be granted the same rights as those who chose to worship a God, or Gods, statue, energy, Sun, Alien or Force. If one worships nothing, ?no thing? or refuses to find comfort in an invisible friend, companion or God, well then that must be allowed as well. You cannot have true religious freedom without granting the Atheists their worship of nothing or their belief that there is no God.

If we attack those with a difference in view, we attack the individual and thus trample the rights of the few, which is not what our nation stands for. Indeed if we ridicule Atheists on Television and call them names, suggest they are any less ethical for their beliefs, then we do so at the peril of those individuals and the whole of our nation. In doing so we tear down the fiber of America and rip up our Constitution. Recently at a coffee shop I witnessed a heated debate between a strong non-denominational Christian and an Atheist as they debated away all points near and far on religion, God, who created the Universe and how come each individual was correct and the other entirely wrong.

After the debate the Christian Gentleman, who I would give an A + for effort departed and I sat down and talked with the Atheist Gentleman, a scholar and an intellectual in his own right. Both men were far from incompetent and indeed the heated debate was worthy to watch in all its sound and fury. I indicated to the Atheist that I had enjoyed the Christians comments and the Atheist comments, as well. The Atheist said to me;

Sometimes although I cringe when I do it, I often say I am agnostic just so I do not get the evil look? I can feel their anger and rage when I tell them I am an atheist, which is interesting because that is exactly opposite of what their religion is suppose to teach; hypocrites, just leave alone I think to myself.?

Indeed the Atheist did have a point and I had just witnessed a perfect example in the debate at the coffee shop. Ridiculous I thought to myself that one would have to tell a lie to keep peace, yet in some ways he was right and we both knew it. We discussed the issues of the Constitution, freedom of worship, freedom of speech, etc and it seemed to me that there is an inherent problem in the religious tolerance in the United States for those who do not think a certain way, maintain a specific belief system or hold the same God to their hearts. The Atheist, a small businessman and consultant said to me;

Actually in business I have never been screwed over by an Atheist ever, I myself have never screwed anyone, totally upfront. Yet every time someone tells Preservation Boxes Manufacturers me; "You can trust me I am Christian" Oh crap look out!?

Indeed his point is well taken on that matter as well, yet there are hypocrites one must assume in all walks of life and certainly in all religions. It seemed to me to be apparent that we are not honoring our Constitution if we belittle those who are Atheists and refuse to believe in an invisible friend, which they cannot see, feel or touch. Even if others can or claim to, which seems to be an individual issue. Do you really know God? Think on this.

With a Starbucks on virtually every block, and "a grande iced triple-shot, extra-whipped skim mocha" a normal way to ask for an afternoon drink, it’s not always easy to remember what it was that we drank before the caffeination of Manhattan. With a couple of cups of java just to get going in the morning and a double espresso to concentrate better in the afternoon, coffee is becoming synonymous with energy. And New York is all about energy.

But is it good for us?

Symptoms of caffeine overuse include depression, anxiety, restlessness, stomach upsets, nausea and vomiting. Moderate to heavy coffee consumption may even lead to heart disease. Addiction to sugary coffee drinks or sweet colas may also lead to extreme mood swings or even diabetes.

Coffee may also cause an increase of stress hormones, according to Stephen Cherniske, author of "Caffeine Blues." Everytime we drink coffee, the adrenal gland produces adrenaline, the same thing that happens when we are afraid or angry. After a prolonged period of excessive caffeine consumption, the adrenal gland doesn’t have any more adrenaline to produce. This leads to chronic fatigue, constant exhaustion and susceptibility to disease. Dr. James D. Lane, who studied caffeine for 15 years, found that stress hormones produced by a cup of coffee did not leave the body of the participant for 24 hours after consumption.

"If your eating is imbalanced, you are going to require another stimulant, following your cup of coffee, to get your adrenaline back, Manhattan-based Dr. Craig Fishel says. Most people reach for a cookie or a piece of chocolate after their skim latte precisely for this reason.

Caffeine is a substance found naturally in the leaves, seeds, fruits and nuts of more than 60 different plants, and is added to food and many over-the-counter medicines. It is absorbed and distributed very quickly into the body; it passes directly into the central nervous system or the brain. Often combined with vast amounts of sugar in beverages, caffeine can be hard to quit for some.

"I had headaches for a week after stopping drinking coffee," says retired New Yorker Bill Choney.

Eighty-five percent of all Americans drink coffee on a daily basis, according to the Duke University Medical Center -- maybe whether they want to or not. "Caffeine is similar to nicotine in its addictive properties," Feishel says.

But caffeine can be kicked.

"The best way to quit caffeine is to replace half of your morning beverage with a decaffeinated alternative, gradually decreasing the caffeinated portion," Fishel says.

Sometimes quitting coffee brings quite unexpected results.

"My taste buds became more sensitive after quitting coffee," says Nina Mineyeva, a manager at Ernst & Young. "I discovered a whole world of herbal teas and other delicious beverages, instead of just mechanically gulping coffee."

Since everyone has a different tolerance level to caffeine, the key is knowing where to draw the line and how to get that New York-energy buzz while staying healthy, physically and emotionally.
